Creative Ways to Save the Date

Your Pinterest boards are already getting full of inspiration for your wedding day, so you won’t want to miss the chance to show off your newly-created wedding style with your save-the-date cards.

Snail mail invites are no longer required. So, you can choose to go digital with your save the dates rather than sending cards with stamps the old-fashioned way.

The important thing to remember is to send them out at least eight months in advance for out-of-state events and four months in advance for local weddings to give guests enough notice.

Email Save-the-Dates

Websites like Paperless Post offer dozens of beautiful templates for save the dates that can be sent digitally, or even printed and mailed.

Evite even offers the RSVP option so you can see who is planning on coming to your big day before the official invitations are sent.

Social Media Announcements

Want to create a slick graphic for your social media channels with your announcement? Canva offers free downloadable templates that you custom-size for your Facebook, Instagram, and other social media channels. Using your own uploaded images, add free or paid stock images, and select the perfect font - then you’re ready to shout it from the rooftops (of the internet that is).

The Real Thing

If the budget allows and you like the idea of printed, mailed announcements using a design service like Shutterfly can give you the personalized look you’re going for. Choose from foiled cards, glitter cards or even shimmering card stock. Plus, you can frequently find online promo codes ready to use on sites like RetailMeNot.

Creative Ideas

For the out-of-the-box thinkers, consider ordering custom refrigerator magnets displaying the date and your favorite engagement photo. Other options include shipping personalized labels on mini bottles of bubbly, creating a custom playlist CD and using the album cover to display your info, creating custom campaign buttons, or sending a card with a personalized balloon attached (mail the balloon deflated).
