Featured Vendor: Market at the Mill

During the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, Bill Dansby and his son Elmo worked side-by-side at the Dansby Feed Mills in Clifton, TX, not only creating a great product, but also revolutionizing the feed and grain industry.

It is in this historic location that Andy and Lisa Horn, along with their grown children, Ty and Kaitlynn Horn and Kyle and Kacy Schulze, have opened a unique event venue that has breathed new life into a structure that contributed so much to the town where it resides.

The venue, called Market at the Mill, is made up of several buildings surrounding a courtyard and food truck court. The layout of these buildings closely resembles the original layout of the Dansby Feed Mills, and the owners have used materials from the existing structures to refurbish the new facility.

“We salvaged all of the great wood and metal that was on the walls and in the flooring,” Lisa Horn said. “It just gives it a cool vibe.”

The Market, that just opened its doors this month, includes indoor and outdoor spaces for weddings, receptions and other special events.

“One of the spaces, which we call the ‘Corn Crib’ because it is where they used to store all of the corn and shucks when it was a working feed mill, has giant garage doors that open into a 1,400 square-foot pavilion on one end and a 1,200 square-foot open patio on the other,” Horn said.

Not only does the venue have large outdoor areas adjacent to their indoor spaces, but it also contains a large U-shaped courtyard that Horn said would be perfect for extra seating, a wedding tent, food truck dining, or a band.

And when there’s not a wedding or special occasion happening at the Market, visitors can peruse the retail space that features home décor and furnishings, jewelry, boutique apparel, gifts and local treasures.

Although the Horns want to create a fun and festive location for shopping, dining and celebrating, they also want patrons and local residents to get a sense of family when they visit the Market.

“We feel like [this venue] will be a great addition to the Clifton community, and an opportunity for our family to work together over the years,” Horn said.
