When the engagement ring is securely placed on the bride-to-be’s finger, it is officially time to start planning the wedding. For some brides this means hiring a wedding or event planner to get the job done. But knowing you want a coordinator is just the beginning.

With so many details to consider, it can be overwhelming for a newly-engaged bride. Here are some reasons why choosing a wedding planner might be right for you, and how to go about hiring the perfect one.

1. Detail-Oriented
As much as you care about every detail of your wedding, the truth is that on the day you get married you won’t be able to take care of everything. A wedding planner can coordinate every aspect of your big day, and leave you to enjoy the happiest moment of your life.

2. Contact Vendors
While you are trying on dresses and sampling wedding cakes, your wedding planner will be handling communication with all of your vendors. Your time is valuable when you’re planning a wedding, and by having a wedding planner, you can spend those precious hours concentrating on your future with your new husband.

3. Handle the Minutia
If the cake topper falls over or the caterer forgets the gluten-free entrees, your wedding planner will handle it. It’s their job to make sure everything runs smoothly, and that your only focus is getting down the aisle and enjoying your big day.

Once you have chosen a few to interview, make sure you are prepared to do so. Set aside a time when you can focus on talking with the wedding planner, and ask important questions like:

• How often will we communicate about my wedding?
• How will you help bring my vision to life?
• Will my wedding be handled by one person or a team?
  

3. Price Match
Make sure that hiring a wedding planner is in your budget. You don’t want to blow your budget before you even start planning. Compare prices and find the best deal for your wedding.
