Writing “thank you” cards is sometimes considered a tedious task, but it doesn’t have to be nearly as difficult as we tend to make it. Here are some tips for thanking your guests and those who made your big day possible.
The sentiment
Thank you notes should carry a personal sentiment of gratitude. This can be difficult to do when you have more than 50 notes to write. Create about five thank you templates. The overall effect will be similar, but the phrasing will be different. These templates will help you write the notes faster, while still maintaining some personalization.
Make sure to include two lines that say something like, “Thank you for the (fill in the blank). We have enjoyed using it for (fill in the blank).” They put time and effort into their wedding gift to you, so you should show them how their gift has been used or enjoyed. If you haven’t had a chance to use the fine china or gravy boat, then say you can’t wait until for the opportunity to show it off.
Organizing Multiple Notes
Use your guest list to organize the thank you note process. You probably have a list of people you invited and their addresses. Beside each name, write the gift they gave. This will help you write their thank you note quickly since all the details are in one place. Check or cross off the name once you have written and sent their thank you note.
Saving Time and Effort
After hand-writing a lot of thank you notes your hand might get tired. One way to save a little effort and include a decorative element is to get a pretty address stamp. This will make it easier and faster to address envelopes, and you can use the stamp later on.
Keep all of your thank you note supplies in an area where you can work on it a little bit at a time. If you keep them by the couch, you can write a few during commercial breaks while watching TV in the evenings. This will make the process easier and less of a chore.
