Elysa first spotted Marcus in 2016 at the Baylor SLC competing in a 3-on-3 basketball game. Just two months later, they started dating. The two spent the next four years bonding and creating memories together, and Marcus decided it was time to pop the question.
In March of 2021, Marcus started out the surprises by organizing Elysa’s best friend from Florida to fly down to Texas for a visit. They took a trip to Dallas to explore the Arboretum, and Marcus got down on one knee in front of the cherry blossom display, which happened to be Elysa’s favorite flower. Marcus had shared
with Elysa one inspirational quote a day for several days leading up to the proposal, and on this 12th day, his last quote to her was a popular line from the Avengers: Endgame movie. “I know you don’t like surprises, but I have one last one,” Marcus told her, before displaying the ring and finishing with, “will you marry me?”
Elysa is most excited to see everything come to fruition on her big day, and she’s looking forward to planning a celebration that’ll bring all her family and friends together. With plenty of guests coming from out of state, her and Marcus plan on using the wedding weekend as a time to relax and blend their families.
Elysa is planning for a color scheme of dusty sage, gray, and rose gold. Even more unique than the color scheme is the theme: “Friends, Family, and Fun.” Elysa explains that there will be outdoor games and activities for everyone, and they’ll even have an axe throwing trailer at the reception—a sentiment to her and Marcus’s shared interest in competitive axe throwing.
Marcus and Elysa will be married on March 20th, 2022 at Deerfield Estates in Waco, Texas.
Congrats Elysa and Marcus!
