From the outside, The Amsler Building in Crawford, TX matches the old-world aesthetic of the town’s quaint main street. But inside, it is a rustic event venue that has a lot to offer those who are looking for a country feel with big city amenities.
“What’s nice about Crawford is that it’s between Dallas, Houston and Austin and it’s a really good mutual point,” Helberg said. “It’s a little outside of town, but Waco hotels really aren’t that far away.”
Helberg said the location is great for those who are looking for rustic elegance, but don’t want an outdoor ceremony or reception.
“The building’s age and historic charm give it that unique feel,” she said. “It has wooden floors and all the original brick.”
The venue was originally built in 1907 and was a grocery store before being turned into a restaurant and then an event space. 
“Some of the Crawford residents have even come in to tell us they remember the store and that they used to work here,” Helberg said.
But even though the building is more than 100 years old, new owners Phillip and Yvette Helberg said they have left the structure’s historic elements untouched so it can be the perfect blank canvas for creating wedding dreams.
“There’s a lot of flexibility in making it your own with decorating,” new owner, Yvette Helberg said. “We’ve had brides come in and hang white tulle all over the hall and made it look completely different.”
Not only is The Amsler Building full of potential, but it is also large enough to hold up to 350 people in its 9000 square feet of event space, and even boasts a bridal suite upstairs.
The building can be rented by the day, or if your function is less than four hours, the Helberg’s also offer hourly rates.
